Dynamic proprieties of the soil are evaluated relative to a number of factors including, strain level, density, number of cycles, material type, saturation and effective stress. The typical test method covers the determination of the shear modulus and damping properties of soils in either undisturbed or reconstituted states after one-dimensional consolidation. Cyclic Simple Shear typically covers a range of deformation from 0.01% to 10%.
